David Burton

Globalization

David Burton has 27 years of international development experience, during which he has implemented 86 substantive assignments in 51 countries. He has spent seven years resident overseas as Team Leader and has held project director positions on 58 occasions. He has led teams that have won work for FCDO (DFID), the EU, ADB, AfDB, IrishAid, the World Bank, NEFCO, the Nike Foundation, USAID, Global Affairs Canada, UNDP, MCC, EBRD and the governments of South Africa, Kenya, Finland, and Kazakhstan. He specialises in rural and agricultural development and has considerable experience in land management, agricultural production, high- yield dairy cow production, extension services, food security and rural and community development.

David lives in South Africa and is supporting the newly created South African office of WEglobal, which is successfully developing work on the continent of Africa.

He prides himself in taking a practical approach to problem solving and believes the quickest way between two points is usually in a straight line. He aims to practice a healthy work-life balance and advocates taking time each day to consider lessons learned. His hero is Nigel Owens.
