Introduction

Employment is a significant factor in sustainable development. Apart from its impact on growth and prosperity, it is also very closely tied in with other issues, such as education and inclusion.

Our projects have addressed all aspects of the jobs market: bringing people into employment and retaining them; increasing the institutional capacity of stakeholders involved in the labour market; designing active labour market programmes to boost the employability of various target groups; expanding entrepreneurship to create more employment and/or enhance employability; and working with public and private vocational institutions to enhance the quality of the services they provide.

“All the training and consultancy provided to the enterprises has been designed to make the labour force more adaptable an increase their skills. Over 12.000 man-days of training was delivered during the 21-month project, to a mixture of SME owners and managers as well as Public Officials. The training options were decided after what was probably the largest SME and labour force survey carried out in the region and probably Turkey. We surveyed over 600 SMEs in nine sectors to be able to determine the skills gaps”.

A Mission Proven and Thoroughly Accomplished

Helping young adults and the unemployed in Egypt get into the jobs market

This project is addressing the mismatch between supply and demand in the labour market in Egypt, focusing on identifying the skills that vocational education and training curricula need to pass on to young people, graduates and those without jobs to help them find employment. We are working with arrange of stakeholders from the private sector, investment houses, trade unions, vocational training centres, academic and technical schools, government institutions and public employment offices to deliver bespoke capacity building programmes, establish a national career guidance scheme and set up a national system for collecting, analysing and disseminating labour market information.
