We are delighted to announce that WEglobal has been named a Gold Winner in the category of “Creative Outstanding Achievement of the Year” for the 7th annual Globee International Awards. This award recognises our work on the EU-funded project “Technical Assistance for Increased Public Understanding and Enhanced Stakeholder Capacity on the Required Joint Efforts on Climate Action.”
The project was implemented and managed in Turkey by WEglobal between 2018 and 2020. It focused on the efforts for climate action at the national level, which successfully started to transform stakeholders’ perspectives throughout the country. This project has been the most comprehensive capacity building and awareness-raising effort in climate change mitigation as well as adaptation undertaken in Turkey. Thus, it was an important attempt to increase the national and local capacities for medium and long-term climate action towards climate-resilient, low-carbon development.In the training component of the project, subject-matter experts prepared 17 training booklets (in Turkish and English) based on the findings of the training needs analysis (TNA) study conducted at the beginning of the project. Throughout the project, WEglobal helped complete 20 training events with 1090 participants from all over the country, held a climate change photo competition and organised exhibitions in 10 different provinces. To raise awareness, we produced 10 netcast videos, a TV spot and a radio spot. Furthermore, the National Climate Change Communication Plan (NCCP) was developed to help people understand that fighting climate change should be a part of daily life. Within our technical assistance, we helped implementation of 37 grant projects, via a web-based grant program information system (MIS) as the primary tool for contract management, monitoring and communications. Within these 37 projects, 265 research and data collection studies were conducted, in addition to the creation of 33 policy documents, 115 videos, 85602 brochures and 88789 visibility materials. Upon the completion of the grant projects, a booklet on success stories was prepared, and a video spot on the grant projects’ success was produced.
