ETKINIZ launched with environmentally friendly, CSO-centred atypical forum

On 3rd of July, ETKINIZ EU Programme for Monitoring Compliance with the International Human Rights Framework has launched with the participation of the Head of European Union Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger and with the representatives of hundreds of CSOs along with the delegates of EU Affairs and various EU Member State Embassies at the Atlı Sports Club, where is also an association.

“We hope that ETKINIZ will be widely used not only by civil society organizations but also by all citizens and officials willing to work towards the promotion and strengthening of Human Rights in Turkey. ETKINIZ can be a crucial tool to support Turkey in strengthening compliance with international obligations,” Ambassador Berger stated. One in a kind Launch Forum has started with the human rights narratives with the moderation of author and journalist Özgür Mumcu and keynote speeches of actress and activists Deniz Türkali and the coordinator of Right to Clean Air, Buket Atlı. The first session happened to be as a talk-show version, unlike the other openings.

The Launch Forum took place in the garden of the Atlı Sports Club with fair-like many different food stands and colourful tents. Under the tents, the project was explained by the technical assistance team and discussed with the CSO representatives. In the event, the programme team prefer to distribute environmental-friendly reusable water bottles and hinder the use of excessive paper consumption by using a mobile application for questionnaires and many info notes.
The event finalized with the closing UPR session with the participation of prominent names in the human rights field.
