WEglobal runs across the continents for children

On Sunday 11th November 2018 thousands of people from a hundred countries gathered at the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul to take part in the 40th Istanbul Marathon, running from Asia to Europe, the world’s only cross-continental road race.

The runners set off from at a point next to the Bosphorus Bridge on the Asian side of the city. After crossing the bridge, which has some of the best views of the world famous straits and the city of Istanbul, the participants then ran passed historically important sites on the European side of the city, including Dolmabahçe Palace, Galata Tower, the Golden Horn and Hagia Sophia.

This year WEglobal was proud to support the NGO HelpZone, one of our initiatives through which we help disadvantaged groups by means of advice, guidance, projects and donations.

The WEglobal team ran the 10K to provide displaced Syrian children with learning materials, educational toys, books and technology-based tools. T-shirts celebrating the collaboration between WEglobal and Helpzone were produced and sold to raise funds for this vital work.  Moreover, we aim to continue spreading news about the event and our work with HelpZone through social media and our internal social platforms to raise more even more funding.

“It is all about community. It was great to have such a good turnout this year and I want to see similar activities in the future.” said Levent Erkan, Chairman, WEglobal.
