Cooperation and Partnership Memorandum signed between cooperatives from the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria

WEglobal is implementing the “Introduction and Implementation of Common Market Organization Measures (CMO)” project to help the Republic of Northern Macedonia prepare for EU accession. This project deals with developing a Common Market Organisation (CMO), a clear set of measures that allow the EU to monitor and manage agricultural product markets, either directly or indirectly, through producer organizations. The “Introduction and Implementation of Common Market Organization Measures (CMO)” project is funded by the European Union with a budget of approximately 900,000 euros and is currently in progress with a duration of 26 months.

The implementation of this project has great importance for the agriculture sector in the Republic of North Macedonia because it will contribute to increasing market opportunities, economic development and overall productivity in the agricultural sector while improving its competitiveness following the requirements for EU accession of the country.

Arjanit Hoxha, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, attended the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership between cooperatives from the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria.

“I wish you successful cooperation and partnership, and I sincerely hope that you will be a successful example of cooperation for other cooperatives in the country and the region. This example will be recognized as a model by other agricultural producers in the Republic of North Macedonia. The project will assist both institutions and the private sector in regulating the required set of national market standards for fresh fruit and vegetables in the EU’s internal as well as export markets, and of course assisting the MAFWE in policies to protect agricultural products from disturbances caused by price fluctuations and unfair competition”, said Mr. Hoxha.

Mr. Hoxha conveyed his thanks to the Delegation of the European Union for its support in the reforms and adaptation of all sectors.
